FAQs
QCells is one of the world’s leading clean energy companies, recognized for its established reputation as a manufacturer of high-performance, high-quality solar cells, modules and energy storage systems. QCells is a trusted partner of Baker Home Energy.
SREC stands for Solar Renewable Energy Credit. SRECs are credits that represent the positive environmental impact of generating one megawatt-hour (MWh) of electricity from solar energy. It is entirely separate from the clean electricity that your solar system produces and is an acknowledgement of the renewable and sustainable energy produced.
Currently the process to redeem SRECs is difficult and time consuming and beyond the scope of most homeowners. To redeem your SRECs you would need to register with the California Energy Commission (CEC) and find a broker to help you redeem your credits. Alternatively, QCells, a major player in the solar industry, has developed a process to help consumers do this in a more timely and efficient way.
No. At no time does selling your SRECs impact the energy that your solar system generates and uses to power your home. Additionally, there is no impact to your utility bill.
According to California law, producers of solar can only redeem their SRECs once.
*The complete details of the Qcells SREC Program can be found in the SREC customer agreement.
